JRF and EPO positions available at IUCAA for activities related to LIGO-India Encourage potential candidates to apply

Positions are available at IUCAA for activities related to LIGO-India.

Junior Research Fellowships available at IUCAA (Primarily for LIGO-India related activities)

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) is a prestigious megascience project in the US which made the first direct detection of Gravitational Waves (GW). The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) is the key science stakeholder of the planned LIGO-India project. Our primary responsibilities include commissioning and operating an advanced LIGO detector and providing relevant training to build a team for the same. IUCAA is also actively engaged in gravitational wave data analysis and has well established computing facilities to support these activities.

IUCAA is inviting applications for FOUR Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions, each focussing on three different aspects of the commissioning efforts.

  1. Designing, fabrication, and characterisation of a complete Extended Cavity Diode Laser (ECDL) system
  2. Search and parameter estimation of gravitational-wave signals
  3. Detector characterisation
  4. Seismic Isolation in Gravitational Wave detectors

Application Deadline: June 28, 2023.
