About the event
10 years ago, LIGO detectors in Hanford and Livingston detected a signal that changed the way we study Astrophysics. For the first time, we had direct evidence of gravitational waves when two blackholes 36 and 29 solar masses each merged, creating ripples across the space-time continuum. LIGO-India Education and Public Outreach is organizing one-day event celebrating 10 years of gravitational waves science since the first detection. The program is packed with lots of science discussions, fun, and public-engaging activities, which will start from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Chandrashekar Auditorium on 14th September (Sunday).
